THAT'S UNREAL

Hi, I’m Peter — a real-time VFX artist with a passion for crafting immersive visual effects for games and interactive experiences.

With a background in VFX and a love for fast, iterative workflows, I specialize in creating dynamic effects using Unreal Engine, Niagara systems, and Houdini. My work ranges from magical explosions and fluid simulations to character-driven effects like pyro smoke, grains, and real-time particles.

I'm always driven by the challenge of blending technical problem-solving with creative artistry — whether it's animating a fireball's impact, simulating a trail of souls, or adding subtle environmental details like flowing waterfalls and dry ice.

I’m constantly pushing myself to learn and experiment, especially when collaborating with teams or exploring new techniques. If you’re looking for someone who brings both precision and imagination to real-time VFX, let’s connect!

OPTIMIZATION

In my most recent Starry Bubble project, I focused on using masked materials over translucency whenever possible, reducing overdraw. I also combined flares, particles, and background elements into a single texture to minimize texture calls when possible, ensuring smoother performance in-engine.

COLLABORATION

Creating impactful VFX is rarely a solo effort. In my Aztec-themed project, I worked closely with my team, iterating extensively based on feedback from mentors and peers. I handled the real-time effects, using Embergen for the atmospheric dry ice in the background, crafting sprite flipbooks for the torches, and designing flowing waterfalls — all while timing each element to enhance the project's cinematic feel. This process sharpened my ability to adapt quickly and push visuals further with every iteration.
